A modified template-removal process to improve the specific surface area and hierarchical porosity of carbon materials

In the modified approach, HCl solution is added on the pyrolysis precursor dropwise. Once the HCl droplet crashed into the precursor, a great deal of bubbles formed, and appreciable heat boiled the solution. After the boiling stopped, more HCl solution was added into the test tube. The mixture is then left overnight. This process could take full advantage of the reaction heat for further improving the graphitization degree, morphology, specific area, and porosity.
