Être sa dépouille (ou ne pas l'être). Hypothèse philosophique sur le refus au don d'organes
چکیده انگلیسی
This article addresses the problem of family refusal for organ donation in France. The rate of refusal is still high (33.8% in 2012) despite the awareness campaigns for organ donation. How a philosophical approach can enable us to better understand this phenomenon? We make the hypothesis that an in-depth conceptual investigation about death and its representations would help reveal one of the main reasons for refusal and then infer from it practical solutions to reduce the rate of refusal. Our method consists in combining: (1) a field research conducted with nurses in charge of the organs removal who are confronted daily to the family refusals; (2) a philosophical investigation about the dual representation of death depending on the position of the subject in the situation. We assume that the representation I have of my corpse is radically different from the representation I have of the corpse of a family member or a friend: their content and valence are reversed. This discreet and subjective distinction would supposedly have some objective and concrete effects on the way organs are collected for transplantation. It is through a self-philosophical experimentation that the reader is invited to internally discover one of the causes of refusal for organ donation, understand why it is a reasonable and comprehensible one, and realize to what extent it needs to be transformed by information and explanation.
