Le médecin peut-il annoncer l'échéance de sa mort au malade ?

Who, as a doctor, has never been faced to know the remained lifetime of an evolutionary serious illness potentially mortal patient? This question seems so natural for a doctor that in general he does not imagine have to answer it. And nevertheless: what allows him to answer? Can he predict the future with his medical knowledge? Of course, it informs him that the patient will die, does that fact requires him to be a doctor, but does that gives him the exact term of the patient life? Does the doctor have to answer it as a guide? But finally, what is the patient expectation: an answer, or a listening of his existential question? What dictates the caution's doctor? Having developed all these questions, we can conclude that the doctor as a scientist, patient or careful, neither can, nor has to answer the expiry date life more or less estimated of a sick person. Here as often, the doctor's greatness is to admit he knows, that he does not know and, therefore, not to act as if he knew.
