A near-infrared light-activated IR780-loaded liposome drug delivery system (Lip-IR780-Sunitinib) is developed for efficiently light-triggered anti-angiogenenic drug sunitinib release and photothermal effect in tumor site. This dual-funtional liposomes provides an innovative design guideline for combining antiangiogenic therapy and photothermal therapy to increase the anti-tumor effect integrated with a controlled drug-release modality.169
