Quand la construction de la sexualité adolescente se confronte à la violence du voir pornographique

The booming of new technologies has generalized pornography, making its access easy, permanent, including for children and teenagers. Today, it does not necessitate any effort of seeing, with the inherent transgression, pleasure, guilt and shame; now, pornography imposes itself to the eye, even when it is not sought. Research (essentially North-American) does not reach a consensus on the influence of pornography on adolescent sexuality (representations, practices). The psychopathologic and/or addictive drifts appear marginal, and affects the most fragile teenagers, whose imagination remains captive of this iconography. This question became evident in our work with teenagers presenting a “preoccupying sexuality” or even authors of sexual violence. Those patients frequently mention a recurrent and massif contact with pornography. Even if, of course, not all teenagers who watch this type of images commit such actions, this observation invites us to question the impact of the pornographic images' violence on the construction of adolescent sexuality. Apart from its effects on sexual imagination, we will put forth the hypothesis that consumption of pornography relates to an attempt to incorporate the genital organ, marking the failure of “genitality introjection” during the adolescence.
