• Two phosphinidene-capped triruthenium clusters were connected with diphosphines.
• The reactions proceeded under hexane refluxing condition.
• The desired linked clusters were obtained in high yields.
A phosphinidene-capped triruthenium cluster Ru3(CO)9(μ-H)2(μ3-PMes) (1, Mes = mesityl = 2,4,6-trimethylphenyl) reacted with diphosphines to afford linked clusters [Ru3(CO)8(μ-H)2(μ3-PMes)]2(μ-dppe) (2a, dppe = 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane), [Ru3(CO)8(μ-H)2(μ3-PMes)]2(μ-dppa) (2b, dppa = bis(diphenylphosphino)acetylene), and [Ru3(CO)8(μ-H)2(μ3-PMes)]2(μ-dppf) (2c, dppf = 1,1′-bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene) in high yields. The molecular structures of 2a and 2c were confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction.
Two phosphinidene-capped triruthenium clusters were connected with diphosphines to afford large clusters. The reactions proceeded under hexane refluxing condition, and the desired products were obtained in high yields.Figure optionsDownload as PowerPoint slide
