Application of Kalman Filter based Neutral Axis tracking for damage detection in composites structures

Some of the loading scenarios were difficult to realise in the laboratory, so these loading scenarios were applied on a validated Finite Element (FE) model of the composite beam. The results indicate that under these dynamic loading scenarios, NA may be used for SHM. Based on the results it can be concluded that KF based NA tracking may be applied to structures for in-service SHM.
