Incorporation of tail weight and tail percentage at harvest size in selection programs for the Pacific white shrimp Penaeus (Litopenaeus) vannamei

Although tail weight is the main marketing product in the shrimp industry, it has a very high phenotypic and genetic correlation with body weight. Measuring tail traits adds costs and do not improve the efficiency of P. vannamei breeding programs.
