History of heavy metal accumulation in the Svalbard area: Distribution, origin and transport pathways

Both atmospheric and oceanic circulation influence Svalbard fjords but the relative importance of both contaminant sources can vary between different locations. The major source of airborne Pb are European and Russian emissions, northern Svalbard can be also influenced by Pb emitted in North America.126
