Electron and photon reconstruction and identification with the ATLAS detector

The reconstruction and identification of electrons and photons will be one of the key issues at the start-up of data-taking with ATLAS at the LHC, in 2009. In this paper, the issues related to energy and position reconstruction, particle identification and background rejection will be briefly reviewed.
