ResumenEl término camptocormia incluye aquel trastorno caracterizado por una excesiva flexión anterior del tronco que se mantiene en bipedestación y durante la marcha, y cuyo rasgo fundamental es la reductibilidad en decúbito supino. En algunas ocasiones se asocia al síndrome de cabeza caída o dropped head syndrome, en la que se en cuen tra una inclinación hacia delante de la cabeza por debilidad de la musculatura posterior del cuello.ObjetivosActualizar los conocimientos etiopatogénicos sobre las posturas anómalas en flexión de tronco y cuello, así como evaluar los tratamientos médicos y rehabilitadotes descritos en la literatura.Estrategia de búsquedaSe ha realizado una revisión de los artículos publicados desde el año 1996 hasta marzo de 2009 obtenidos mediante una búsqueda realizada en Google y PubMed. Se incluyeron los artículos en español, inglés y francés.Selección de estudiosSe seleccionaron los estudios que hacían referencia a la etiología, patogenia, clasificación y tratamiento médico y rehabilitador a partir del análisis del resumen de los artículos, siendo finalmente incluidos en la bibliografía veinte artículos.
SummaryThe term camptocormia includes a disorder characterized by an excessive anterior trunk flexion sustained while standing and walking, whose key feature is the reductibility in the supine position. It is sometimes associated with head drop syndrome or dropped head syndrome, in which there is a forward tilt of the head produced by weakness of the posterior neck muscles.ObjectivesTo update an understanding on etiopathogenic abnormal postures in trunk and neck flexions, as well as evaluating medical and rehabilitation treatments described in the literature.Search strategyWe have reviewed articles published from the year 1996 to March 2009 obtained through searchs on PubMed and Google. We have included articles published in Spanish, English and French.Study selectionWe have selected studies related to etiology, pathogenesis, classification and medical and re habilitation treatments from analysis of the summary of the articles; twenty articles were finally included in the bibliography.
