Abstract
Pylephlebitis (septic thrombophlebitis of portal vein) is a rare complication of inflammatory bowel disease associated with high mortality. We report an unusual case of pylephlebitis following pelvic infection due to long-standing intrauterine device. Diagnosis was confirmed by serial follow-up computed tomography (CT) and ultrasound imaging, although liver lesions were misdiagnosed as cholangiocarcinoma on the initial CT examination.
