Abstract
This paper is dedicated to a sub-project of GLOWA-Elbe investigating the integrated water availability and water quality conditions concerning the urban agglomeration of Berlin. These studies are supported by the integrated methodological approach IMA providing a stringent language calculus, which allows to identify and to characterise the main steps of a regional problem-solving algorithm. The problems to be solved in this sub-project are combinations of reasons belonging to three sources: the upstream-downstream conflicts of the Spree-region, the structural changes since 1990, and regional effects of Global change. As a prototype for IMA-applications, one important problem of the urban region is tackled and appropriate information is elaborated to support decisions.
