Abstract
Isothermal sections of the Fe-Sb-Si system at 973 K and 1173 K were investigated using equilibrated alloys by means of scanning electron microscopy equipped with energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry and X-ray diffraction. No ternary compound was found at those two temperatures. A thermodynamic extrapolation of the Fe-Sb-Si system was carried out by considering the reliable experimental data from the literature and the present work. Calculated phase relationship agreed well with experimental results. It is worth noting that an isolated ternary miscibility gap generating from monotectic four-phase reactions exists in the calculated Fe-Sb-Si phase diagram.
