Abstract
The depth of chloride penetration was greater than 90â¯mm (3.5â¯in.) for all the control specimens (without fly ash and silica fume). However, mixes containing both silica fume and fly ash (with W/CM ranging from 0.40 to 0.60) performed very well resulting in chloride penetration of approximately 40â¯mm (1.6â¯in.) during the same period. The results from the chloride permeability testing also indicate significant increases in the resistance to chloride-ion penetration for ternary concrete containing fly ash and silica fume.
