Abstract
Microstructures and tensile-properties of spark plasma sintered aluminum matrix composites(AMC) reinforced with (Ti-AlxTiy) core-shell structured(CSS) particles have been studied after hot-rolling/heat-treatment. The formation of CSS-particles restrained grain-boundary sliding and greatly enhanced dislocation-density during hot-rolling at 400â¯Â°C, resulting in the highest tensile-strength (~454â¯MPa) of AMC. Besides, the intermetallic-shell and soft Ti-core improved the ductility of AMC after heat-treatment (466â¯Â°C/2â¯h+water-quenchingâ¯+120â¯Â°C/24â¯h).
