Abstract
Microstructures and tensile-properties of spark plasma sintered aluminum matrix composites(AMC) reinforced with (Ti-AlxTiy) core-shell structured(CSS) particles have been studied after hot-rolling/heat-treatment. The formation of CSS-particles restrained grain-boundary sliding and greatly enhanced dislocation-density during hot-rolling at 400 °C, resulting in the highest tensile-strength (~454 MPa) of AMC. Besides, the intermetallic-shell and soft Ti-core improved the ductility of AMC after heat-treatment (466 °C/2 h+water-quenching +120 °C/24 h).
