Abstract
A two-year-old, entire male American Akita dog was presented with severe bilateral corneal opacification and blindness of 1,5 month duration. Clinical examination revealed a bilateral hypertensive uveitis associated with mucocutaneous junctions erosions. Uveodermatologic syndrome was suspected based on clinical signs and histopathology of skin biopsies. Treatment by oral and local corticosteroids and oral azathioprine was effective in resolving completely dermatologic lesions and partially ocular lesions. Three months after the beginning of the treatment a poor general condition was reported. A hepatopathy consecutive to the medical treatment was suspected. Fluid perfusion and reduction of the immunosuppressive drugs doses resulted in an improvement of these clinical signs and an absence of recurrence for 1 year.
