A review of the knowledge of shallow subtidal benthic communities in Brazil

- Ninety-nine articles of studies of benthos of Brazilian reefs were found.
- Communities of 764 sampled sites have been studied to date.
- Eleven methods have been used to make comparison of communities and syntheses difficult.
- 50.5% of the articles can not be replicated in relation to the information given.
- Studies should at least describe how, where and when communities were surveyed.
