Abstract
⺠A new mathematical formulation for scheduling multipurpose batch plants. ⺠The formulation requires much fewer binary variables and shorter CPU times. ⺠The formulation is amenable to industrial scale problems. ⺠The formulation is capable of handling nonsimultaneous material transfer to units. ⺠In all cases considered, the formulation outperforms published work in terms of CPU time.
