Abstract
► A new hybrid distillation-pervaporation process is presented. ► Distillation and pervaporation are combined in a single unit. ► The process is investigated for ethanol separation. ► The hybrid process is capable of breaking the ethanol-water azeotrope. ► Intensification led to a more efficient and compact process than distillation.
