Nanostructured materials for rechargeable batteries: synthesis, fundamental understanding and limitations

Hierarchical structured cathode materials are based on self-assembly of functionalized graphene sheets for Li-air battery applications. The large pores facilitate the oxygen flow in the electrode materials. The nanoscale pores provide high surface area and abundant interfaces for reactions, and the defect on graphene provides the reaction sites.
