Abstract
⺠Here we have prepared amorphous copper oxide using a novel room temperature method. ⺠The electrochemical performance of this material was superior to the incumbent manganese dioxide electrode discharged under the same conditions. ⺠What is particularly exciting is that this superior performance was under very high rate discharge conditions. ⺠The electrochemical discharge mechanism of the copper oxide was also discussed. ⺠This work represents an important step towards developing the next generation of cathode material.
