Abstract
► Here we have examined the cyclability of the alkaline γ-MnO2 electrode. ► We have shown that the initial discharge capacity is dependent on the structure and properties of the γ-MnO2 material used. ► Upon electrochemical cycling the discharge behaviour of each different starting material reverts to a common discharge profile. ► Finally, the performance of these cathode was investigated as a function of cycle life.
