Abstract
⺠Coal chars have been shown to possess high catalytic activity in methane cracking. ⺠The char catalytic activity in methane cracking decreases with increasing coal rank. ⺠The char catalytic activity depends on the porous structure and surface chemistry. ⺠Carbon deposits from methane cracking causes deactivation of the chars.
