Abstract
► Liftoff height decreased with increased fuel velocity. ► A linear tendency was observed in the coaxial air to fuel jet velocity ratio. ► It was related to the fuel jet breakup during the laminar-to-turbulent transition. ► This behavior was explained in terms of the boundary velocity gradient concept.
