Abstract
The growth of the dropping mercury electrode (DME) in the electrolyte using charge-time curves was investigated. The method which offers a fast and easy way to determine the potential of the zero charge is proposed. The method was tested with the addition of Triton X-100. It has been also found that using the proposed model and the charge-time curve it is possible to determine the surface charge density of DME at the applied potential. The influence of different specifically adsorbing ions to the growth of DME was detected and described by the proposed model.
