Abstract
► The kinetics of extraction assisted by hydrostatic pressure pulses was investigated. ► Experiments were performed at different pressures in a extractor fed with mate leaves and water. ► The rate of extraction and the equilibrium concentration in the water were increased with pressure. ► The same responses were positively influenced by applying hydrostatic pressure pulses. ► A detailed model described mass transfer by diffusion and convection from the solid microchannels.
