Abstract
⺠In image analysis, separation of objects from background (segmentation) is a key step. ⺠If the object is semitransparent then background color may bias the color analysis. ⺠If object colors are similar to background, segmentation is difficult/impossible. ⺠Taking a backlighted and a front lighted image eliminates these difficulties. ⺠Examples of similar colors to background, and semitransparent objects are given.
