Abstract
⺠The film forming behaviour of low amylose (LA) and high amylose (HA) starches was studied. ⺠The glycerol and xylitol were used as plasticizers. ⺠The HA films had higher Tg, higher strength, higher elasticity and lower elongation than LA films. ⺠At plasticizer:starch ratios of 15:85, the films obtained from both the starches were brittle. ⺠Plasticizer:starch ratios of 20:80 were required to produce reasonably working starch films.
