Abstract
► NDT model to estimate translucency in mangosteen is built by near infrared transmission. ► Translucent area of flesh section surfaces is representative of translucent content. ► The model with spectra from fruit position with largest flesh segment was best. ► The horizontal stem-calyx fruit axis was optimal fruit orientation. ► A 135° angle from the light source relative to detector was optimal configuration.
