Abstract
► A newly improved hybrid bonded FRP (IHB-FRP) technique is developed. ► FRP debonding can be effectively prevented for the IHB-FRP strengthened beam. ► The strengthened beam fails by FRP rupture even for seven plies of FRP strips. ► The ultimate load may increase by a factor of 11 compared with the RC beam. ► The ultimate deflection is larger than that of the EB-FRP strengthened beam.
