New interpretations of gripping force tests for lined pipes

► The ring-split test for lined pipes is investigated in detail. ► Published experiments and experiments conducted at Det Norske Veritas are used in the study. ► It is demonstrated that the current practice for interpreting ring-split tests, according to API 5LD is inaccurate. ► A new methodology is proposed, where analytical methods are applied to give more accurate interpretations of ring-split tests.
