Abstract
In this paper, the local loss of stability in box-girders of overhead cranes is analysed. Box-girders repaired by means of strips of metal are subjected to a compression force parallel to the longitudinal axis of the girder. The load that causes compression and bending of the metal sheets of webs can lead to a local loss of stability. Calculations for the beams of cranes are carried out using the theory of stability and Polish standards for steel construction. To perform the computation of the stress distribution of webs, the finite element method (ANSYS software package) is applied.
