Abstract
⺠We compared steroid levels in calling and non-calling “satellite” male treefrogs. ⺠Satellite males had higher corticosterone and lower androgen levels than callers. ⺠Satellites were in poorer condition and lost aggressive bouts with conspecifics. ⺠Both factors may contribute to variation in hormone levels and tactic expression.
