Abstract
⺠The cognitive and perceptual correlates of print vs braille reading are explored. ⺠Performance is assessed in blind and sighted children and adults. ⺠Braille readers outperform print readers on verbal short term memory. ⺠Blind and sighted readers do not differ on speech and auditory processing. ⺠Auditory processing has a direct impact on braille reading performance.
