Abstract
⺠We examined the beat perception deficit hypothesis as an explanation of dyslexia. ⺠Beat perception deficits were examined systematically across different groups. ⺠Beat perception skills were not related to phonological skills or reading. ⺠Dyslexics and chronological age controls did not differ in beat perception. ⺠Beat perception deficits are not necessary to explain dyslexia in transparent orthographies.
