Abstract
► We explore the reading strategies used by Dutch speaking braille and print readers. ► Braille readers (BR) read less accurately and slower compared to print readers. ► Adult BR outperformed young BR on all the reading tasks. ► The sequential nature of braille imposes a constant decoding in the reading process. ► Adult BR benefit more from semantic top-down processing than young BR.
