Abstract
► Circadian sleep-wake rhythm of older adults with intellectual disabilities. ► We studied the sleep-wake rhythm in 551 older adults with ID, using actigraphy. ► Data were compared to a sample of older adults in the general population. ► The sleep-wake rhythm of older adults with ID is more fragmented and less stable than in the general population. ► Age, dementia, depression, neurological impairments and physical activity were associated with the sleep-wake rhythm of older adults with ID.
