Abstract
This study was intended as a verification of original Arabic sources (genealogies) by comparing them with census materials relating to Siberian Tatars of the 18th–19th centuries and with modern genealogies. The article presents a case study of the Imyaminovs – one of the famous families of Siberian Muslims – and traces the history of the Bukharians (Bukhara emigrants), who have settled in Siberia since the 16th century. In the 18th century they became a distinct ethnic and social group, and in the 20th century they were included among Siberian Tatars.
