Abstract
▶ Drivers report they drive more carelessly when believing they have ESC. ▶ Attitude, subjective norm and perceived control explain 65% of risk intention. ▶ Unique significant effect of descriptive norm in theory of planned behaviour. ▶ 35% of respondents erroneously believe that their car is equipped with an ESC system. ▶ Driver behaviour could reduce the positive effect ESC has on accidents.
