Abstract
▶ A New Zealand based nationwide online survey investigated drivers risk perception and engagement in cell phone conversation while driving. ▶ Attitudes towards legislation banning cell phone use while driving was also examined. ▶ Talking on a cell phone while driving was found to be common practice. ▶ Driver's mostly supported a ban on hand-held cell phone use, but not hands-free calling. ▶ Drivers were not fully aware of the risks associated with talking on a cell phone while driving.
