Abstract
▶ We tested two types of metacognitive reflection (self-explanation and relapse-prevention) in promoting compliance with an aviation safety rule. ▶ Following a rehearsal flight in week one, all pilots completed three test flights in the following week. ▶ The self-explanation group demonstrated greater adherence to the safety rule across all test flights, in comparison to the relapse-prevention group.
