Abstract
▶ Two main causes are motorcycle's poor conspicuity and motorist's speed/distance judgment error. ▶ Riders/surroundings brightness contrast may be a more crucial determinant of conspicuity. ▶ Speed/distance judgment error is more common among older motorists. ▶ Motorcycle being less threatening than cars also contributes to speed/distance judgment error.
