Abstract
ⶠWe studied 204 fatally injured drivers and 10 540 drivers from random traffic. ⶠBlood samples were collected from cases and oral fluid samples from controls. ⶠ22 substances were analysed using equivalent cutoffs in blood and oral fluid. ⶠThe risk for fatal injury in a road traffic accident was estimated using logistic regression. ⶠThe odds for fatal accidents were high for use of multiple drugs or alcohol.
