Abstract
â¶ Nanocomposite hydrogel based on natural polysaccharides and gold nanoparticles. â¶ Broad spectrum antimicrobial activity of the hydrogels. â¶ In vitro toxic effects towards eukaryotic cell-lines. â¶ In vitro cytotoxicity is induced by increase of ROS intracellular level and leads to apoptotic cell death. â¶ In vivo biocompatibility associated with fibrous capsule formation.
