▶ The influence of sedimentation is often neglected in parallel plate flow cells. ▶ Bacterial concentration can be measured microscopically as function of the height from the bottom plate. ▶ Bacterial sedimentation rate can be calculated from experimental observations. ▶ Sedimentation is a dominant factor in bacterial transport in a parallel plate flow cell.
