Abstract
A modified variant of the Sirofloc process was developed. The new feature improving this water conditioning method was the use of black sand containing a large quantity of magnetite. The modification eases process implementation under both static and dynamic conditions. By means of the Sirofloc process involving black sand in a combination with a cation-active flocculant, clear water can be obtained. The values of the humic substance concentration parameter were found to be better than those of natural water clarified through the classical coagulation process.
