Abstract
This paper reviews recent progress in the development of alternative membrane materials to perfluorinated ionomers for fuel cell applications focusing DMFC. Special attention is paid to sulfonated block copolymers, which have advantageous properties such as lower methanol crossover and swelling as compared to that of analogous random copolymers of the same overall composition.
