Abstract
► We optimize two-stage biomass fractionation process using RSM. ► Reaction temp and flow rate of hot-water are critical to increase xylan purity. ► Process optimization increases xylan purity in the hydrolysates up to 82%. ► Two-stage fractionation enhances digestibility and ethanol fermentability of biomass. ► Commercial xylanase enzyme hydrolyzes xylooligomer into xylose in the hydrolyzate.
