► Trametes versicolor catalyzes degradation of norfloxacin and ciprofloxacin. ► Percentages of degradation >90% after 7 days using whole cells of the fungus. ► Identification of transformation products over time by LC-MS/MS. ► Laccase-mediator system is effective to remove ciprofloxacin and norfloxacin. ► Evidence of involvement of cytochrome P450 system in CIPRO and NOR degradation.
